"What you have to tender to me
I will hear it gladly
The moon lights a gap in the trees
Two paths lie behind me
My empire stretches from the hills to the sea
In my name you will find me
Between a river and the world
For when they are lost or feel the yearning need
So many across the earth have called to me
And so deep in their hearts where I plant a seed
So marking the crossroads where we finally meet
The further that you run
The harder it is to hide
Build a tomb of gold
To seal the hole inside
Swimming in the dark
Towards the fading light
Souls fall to earth
Like towers from the sky
If you have a numbing disease
I will heal it gladly
I’ll sell you the strength that you need
So you can stand proudly
All that I will ask in turn is eternity
A thirst you can quench with aching fervency
And when you are lost I’ll be the star you see
So many have found their way to the grave with me
Beyond their torment screams sing wordlessly
You stand at the doorway and I hold the key
The further that you run
The harder it is to hide
Build a tomb of gold
To seal the hole inside
Swimming in the dark
Towards the fading light
Souls fall to earth
Like towers from the sky
And when you have lost the lights will start to dim
Your time is now up inside this worldly skin
You’ve lapped up the pleasures and you’ve lived as king
But where you are headed that won’t mean a thing
The further that you run
The harder it is to hide
Build a tomb of gold
To seal the hole inside
Swimming in the dark
Towards the fading light
Souls fall to earth
Like towers from the sky
Now if you have a deal for me
I will hear it gladly
But no one sates hunger for free
So make this choice wisely
My empire stretches from the hills to the sea
In anguish you will find me
You will find me..."
never been a big death metal fan but this is actually super accessible for the genre, has fun concepts, and personally i'm always a fan of albums with short tracklists and huge runtimes (for individual songs) Great time, good jumping on point for newbies too. alienasu
An outstanding Extreme doom death album, in the best tradition. The funerary atmosphere reminds of Evoken ('Centuries of ooze" bears striking similarities, for my delight). It is overall sharp, dark, hypnotic and unrelenting. One of those rare convincing new bands that hold proud the legacy of the biggest names. Bertrand Marchal
Featuring members of Noothgrush, Graves at Sea, and more, the Oakland metal band juxtapose cavernous doom with spaced-out shoegaze. Bandcamp New & Notable Mar 21, 2024
Oakland, CA quartet LYCUS return with a new album on Relapse Records. Heavy, epic, mournful, and replete with art by Paolo Girardi. Bandcamp New & Notable Jan 5, 2016
If you're going to go out in apocalyptic style you might want to have the 40 minute title track playing loud at your side. Bandcamp New & Notable Nov 12, 2013
Can't believe I'm getting on this 2 years late. Such a well-crafted experience, it is exactly what I've been craving out of the doomgaze subgenre. Heavy, sprawling, dark and mysterious. Heroin is less addictive. Magnus Blackwood
